the short version
- To keep the Haus adults-only and free of fake accounts, verification records your Discord account, your date of birth and the connection you verified from.
- Chat in the server is logged for 6 months for safety, then deleted automatically.
- Sir AI writes its replies with an AI service. Nothing is used to train AI, and nobody is profiled.
- The Website has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- Nothing is sold. You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold.
1Who we are and what this covers
1.1 Controller. Sir Dominic Scott ("we", "us") is the controller of the personal data described here. We are a sole proprietor based in Glasgow, Scotland, and the United Kingdom's data protection law applies to us, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1.2 What this covers. This policy covers thehausofsir.com (the "Website"), verification at thehausofsir.com/verify, and The Haus of Sir Discord server and its bot (together, the "Haus").
1.3 What it does not cover. Discord is an independent company, and your Discord account is covered by Discord's privacy policy. Paid services that give roles here, such as Goonbate™ on Patreon, have their own privacy policies. The SirSpy app has its own terms.
2What we collect
2.1 When you visit the Website.
- Age check. Pressing "y" on the age question sets a cookie called
age_verifiedfor 30 days. No date of birth is asked for here. - Rules accepted. Ticking "I accept all The Haus of Sir rules" sets a cookie called
cult_verifiedfor one year, so the join buttons take you straight to Discord next time. - Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server records each request: the IP address, date and time, the page asked for, the response, and the browser's identification string (the "user agent").
The main Website pages load nothing from other companies. The SirSpy pages load a typeface from Google Fonts and icons from jsDelivr, which means those companies receive your IP address when you open those pages.
2.2 When you verify. Verification logs you in with Discord and asks for your date of birth. It records:
- the result, including if you were turned away as under 18;
- your Discord ID, username, display name and avatar, when your Discord account was created, and when you joined the server;
- the date of birth you entered;
- the IP address you verified from, and your browser, operating system and type of device.
The Discord login asks for the "identify" permission only. It does not give us your email address, your password or your messages, and the access Discord grants is cancelled straight after it is used. Verification is limited per connection, to stop mass-produced accounts.
2.3 In the server.
- Your Discord account and roles. Your Discord ID, name, and the roles you hold.
- Chat log. For safety, the bot keeps a log of the messages posted in the server's community channels, with any pictures or files attached, for 6 months. It is used to moderate the server and to deal with reports and breaches of the rules. Certain words and phrases alert a moderator. After 6 months it is deleted automatically.
- Moderation records. Warnings, timeouts, removals and bans: who, when, and why.
- Support tickets. What you write in a support ticket.
- Sir AI. Sir AI, the server's chat character, writes its replies with Anthropic's AI service. Messages sent to it are used only to write the reply. Nothing is used to train AI, and no profiles are built of anyone.
- Paid roles. If you hold a role that comes from a paid service, such as a Goonbate™ tier, we match your Discord account to that membership to give and remove the role. That uses the details the service holds about you, such as your name and email address.
2.4 If you contact us. Your email address, your name and whatever you write to us, including ban appeals.
2.5 What we do not collect. Your password, your payment details, your precise location, your contacts, or anything from analytics or advertising tools.
3Sensitive information
The Haus is a queer kink and hypnosis community. The fact that someone is a member, and what they post, can reveal their sexual orientation or their sex life, which the law treats as special category data. We treat all Haus data as sensitive: we keep it to what the Haus needs, restrict who can see it, and never publish it.
We process this information on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you tick "I accept all The Haus of Sir rules" and verify, and, where records are needed to establish, bring or defend legal claims, on that basis. You can withdraw your consent at any time by leaving the server and emailing us. Because the Haus cannot run without this information, withdrawing consent ends your membership. It does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
4Why we use it, and our lawful basis
4.1 To run the Haus (contract). Knowing who you are and which roles you hold lets you take part, gives you the channels your roles open, and lets us answer you.
4.2 To keep it adults-only (legal obligation and legitimate interests). The age check and verification keep people under 18 out and show that we did so. Records of refused attempts stop the same person trying again. Our legitimate interest is protecting children and complying with the law on adult content.
4.3 To stop fake and duplicate accounts (legitimate interests). The connection and device details from verification let us spot accounts made in bulk and people coming back after a ban. Our legitimate interest is keeping the Haus real and safe.
4.4 To keep the community safe (legitimate interests). The chat log, keyword alerts, moderation records and support tickets let staff act on reports, rule breaks and risks to members. Our legitimate interest is keeping the Haus safe.
4.5 To protect Sir's content and access (legitimate interests). Role and membership records let us stop shared access and leaked content, and enforce blacklists across Sir Dominic Scott's services. Our legitimate interest is protecting our work and our members.
4.6 To keep the Website secure and working (legitimate interests). Server logs let us find faults, block attacks and keep the Website available.
4.7 Sir AI (legitimate interests). Sending a message to the AI service is how Sir AI writes a reply. Our legitimate interest is running the chat character members talk to.
4.8 To answer you (legitimate interests). If you contact us, we use what you send to reply.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI.
5Cookies and storage on your device
age_verified: remembers for 30 days that you said you are 18 or over. Strictly necessary for an adults-only site.cult_verified: remembers for one year that you accepted the Haus rules. Strictly necessary for the join step you asked for.- A short-lived verification cookie (
__Host-cos_verify, up to 10 minutes) that keeps the Discord login secure while you verify.
These do not need your consent. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Discord sets its own cookies on its own site.
6Who can see it
6.1 Us. Sir Dominic Scott, and the staff and moderators who help run the Haus, where they need it for that work. Verification records are shown only on a private staff panel.
6.2 Our service providers. They process data for us to provide their service:
- Hetzner Online: hosts our server, in Helsinki, Finland;
- Discord: hosts the server, the messages and the roles, and provides the login for verification;
- Anthropic: the AI service Sir AI uses to write its chat replies. It processes the messages sent to it for that purpose only.
Discord is also responsible for its own processing as an independent controller.
6.3 Other Sir Dominic Scott services. A ban for the serious breaches named in the Haus rules applies across all of Sir Dominic Scott's services. The Discord ID and the reason are shared between them for that purpose.
6.4 Authorities and legal claims. We may share information where the law requires it, with the police, a regulator or Discord where needed to prevent or report crime or protect someone's safety, including reports of child sexual abuse material, and where needed to establish, bring or defend legal claims.
6.5 Professional advisers. Our lawyers or accountants, where needed, under a duty of confidence.
6.6 A new operator. If someone takes over running the Haus, the records needed to continue it may pass to them, under this policy.
7International transfers
Our server is in Finland, in the European Economic Area, which the United Kingdom recognises as providing adequate protection. Discord and Anthropic are based in the United States and process data there and elsewhere. Where personal data goes to the United States or another country without adequate protection, the transfer relies on the UK's adequacy regulations for the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise on the standard data protection clauses approved for the UK (the International Data Transfer Addendum) in that provider's own terms.
8How long we keep it
- The chat log: 6 months, then deleted automatically. Messages needed for a report, a breach of the rules or a legal claim may be kept until that is resolved.
- Verification records: while you are a member, and then for up to 6 years, as evidence that members were verified as adults and to stop banned or underage people returning.
- Refused (under 18) attempts: up to 6 years, for the same reason.
- Moderation records and bans: for as long as the warning or ban is relevant. Permanent bans are kept for as long as they apply.
- Server logs: deleted automatically on a rolling basis, normally within 90 days.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to deal with them.
- Cookies: as listed in section 5, on your own device.
9Security
The Website and verification are served only over HTTPS. The verification login uses a signed, short-lived state and cancels Discord's access straight after use. Records are kept on a server only we administer, outside the Website's public folders. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold, and if a breach is likely to put you at high risk, we will tell you.
10Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- correct it if it is wrong;
- erase it, where there is no overriding reason to keep it;
- restrict how we use it;
- object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests;
- portability: receive the data you gave us in a machine-readable form;
- withdraw consent, where we rely on consent, at any time.
We do not make decisions about you by purely automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects. Verification checks your age and account automatically, and you can ask for a person to review a refusal.
To use any of these rights, email hello@sirdominic.scot and tell us your Discord username. We may ask you to confirm the account is yours, for example by messaging us from it. We will reply within one month. There is no charge.
Some rights are limited. For example, we may keep verification records and bans, or records needed for a legal claim, even after an erasure request. Data held by Discord must be requested from Discord.
11Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office, at ico.org.uk. If you live in the European Economic Area, you can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
12Under 18s
The Haus is only for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 in. If we learn that someone under 18 has joined, we remove them and keep only what we need to stop them coming back. If you believe someone in the Haus is under 18, tell a mod or email us.
13Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Haus or the law changes. The date at the top shows the current version. Significant changes are announced in the server.
